12 team league, 5x5 roto, AL & NL, 22 rounds

I had the number 2 overall pick(serpentine draft)

1st round: Hanley Ramirez SS FLA
2nd round: Brandon Phillips 2B CIN
3rd round: Adrian Gonzalez 1B SD
4th round: Joe Nathan RP MIN
5th round: Alex Rios OF TOR
6th round: David Ortiz DH/Util BOS
7th round: Ryan Ludwick OF STL
8th round: Garrett Atkins 3B COL
9th round: James Shields SP TB
10th round: David Price SP TB
11th round: Corey Hart OF MIL
12th round: Huston Street RP COL
13th round: Aaron Harang SP CIN
14th round: Matt Garza SP TB
15th round: Chris Young SP SD
16th round: Orlando Hudson 2B ARZ
17th round: Edwin Encarnacion 3B CIN
18th round: Nelson Cruz OF TEX
19th round: Dioner Navarro C TB
20th round: Edgar Renteria SS SF
21st round: Jon Garland SP ARZ
22nd round: Ken Griffey OF(free agent) just for the hell of it.

I think this is a pretty good team, but not great. I think I might have waited too long for starting pitching. I think I have good power & good batting average. Stolen bases should be there with Hanley Ramirez & Brandon Phillips. I think I'm pretty solid in the runs scored department & RBI's as well. I think I will be solid with the saves. The starting pitching could be better, but it will do. I'm maybe a bit too reliant on Tampa Bay in that area so I guess I'll live or die by them. I think Chris Young will bounce back pitching in San Diego. His ERA should be solid. Wins might be hard to come by with Young though. I think I'm pretty covered with strike outs(Shields, Price, Garza, Harang). I'm not real sure about Garland. I give this draft a B.

Awesome top three.

>4th round: Joe Nathan RP MIN

Probably too early here.

>5th round: Alex Rios OF TOR
>6th round: David Ortiz DH/Util BOS
>7th round: Ryan Ludwick OF STL
>8th round: Garrett Atkins 3B COL

Wow, but you made up for an early Nathan here.

>9th round: James Shields SP TB
>10th round: David Price SP TB

Way too early for David... hope he pans out.

>11th round: Corey Hart OF MIL

Chris Young this late is a steal!

Interesting picks here... Garland in the 21st is also a steal. I like Nelson Cruz.

You're dead in saves... Huston might not even close... And, your TB bias might bite you in the butt, but not a bad team at all.

Thanks for the analysis & opinion Rob. I had no idea about Huston Street. I thought he would be the Rockies closer if healthy. I guess I forgot about Fuentes & Corpes. I saw a couple of other sleeper save guys out there remaining undrafted. Any thoughts on Chris Ray, Mike Gonzalez, Matt Capps, or Troy Percival? Any of them better than Street you think? I know Ray & Capps play for bad teams. Gonzalez has been injury prone. Percival closes for Tampa, a good team, but I'm not so sure they'll stick with him given his age & injuries. I'm sure their were a few other guys off that free agent list I didn't see or overlooked.

Fuentes is now the Angels' closer, and I *REALLY* like this for his value... Krod got a saves record because the Angels kept putting him in position to get chances. Hopefully, Fuentes can keep the job.

Street could be the closer, so you aren't out of the woods yet..

Of the guys you mention -- at least at this point -- either Capps or Gonzalez are good bets, if they are on the waiver wire. Dump your Griffey gamble for one of them.

Well, I must say I did go into this draft cold turkey. I had not done any analyzation at all, other than listening to the BaseballGeeks podcast.

A-Rod went first. I wanted Hanley Ramirez though so I'm glad A-Rod went first. Truth be told, I would not have drafted A-Rod anyway. There is only one rule I have personally in fantasy baseball. Don't draft a Yankee! That may be stupid, but I can't freakin' stand them. I just can't pull for the Yankees or a Yankee player under any circumstance. It's not a smart drafting stratagy, but I don't care. I will never sale my soul to the devil. No, I'm not a Red Sox or Mets fan either in case your wondering why I hate the Yankees so damn much.

Aren't you glad you didn't get Arod with the latest news?
