Bondermania comes within one out of a complete game shutout against the Seattle Mariners. Jeremy Bonderman was brilliant Friday night helping the Tigers to gain a game in the Central standings on the White Sox. In his last seven outings Bonderman has not allowed more than two runs. Only a single with two outs in the ninth kept the Mariners from being shutout. Bonderman did not walk a batter before giving way to Joel Zumaya who recorded the final out with a strikeout. Jeremy continues to mature and appears heading for stardom. After posting an ERA of 5.04 in April, Bonderman continues to lower his ERA, which now stands at 3.46, thanks to a 1.77 ERA in June and 1.98 ERA thus far in July.

Magglio Ordonez, who was just named the Tigers third member of the AL All-Star team, hit a RBI single in the first inning. The RBI was number 60 before the break for Ordonez. Curtis Granderson hit a sac fly in the fifth before Craig Monroe hit a home run for the second straight game in the seventh. Carlos Guillen continuing to play solid baseball doubled in a run in the eighth and now has 51 RBI. The surprising .300 hitter Marcus Thames doubled in two more runs in the inning to finish off the scoring. Detroit’s lead in the AL Central is now two games as the darker colored Sox won in the battle between Boston and Chicago.

*** OEs 3 Stars of the Game ***
